Giant
Robot 48 nailed it on the head with these kind words:
"This well-organized, offset
zine is a gallery in print. There isn't a lot of words in
this publication, which provides an unpretentious look at
some artists who you may or may not know. Projects like these
are a labor of love, for sure, and it's great to see that
knowledge and visuals aren't always passed along via blogs
and can still exist in black and white. Giant
Robot No. 48 (June 2007) -Book Collector. |

Danielle
from UTNE Reader says:
"This neatly laid out zine
showcases new artists from across the world. The zine is small
in size but awesome in scope [giving] artists ample space
to display an array of pieces and to write about their work.

Thanks

Debt. #22 wrote:
"In the words of the Art Bureau editors, this
is 'an online art gallery and publishing house for artists.'
These guys put the artists' work on their website, and then
publish it in a 'limited-edition publication' of 500 copies.
I
enjoy this zine. It's mostly artwork, and this issue features
an interview with the editor. The artwork is all very nice.
If you like looking
at art, this one is worth your time."

Zine
World #24 says:
"This issue features the work of a handful
of emerging [British] artists and designers. It
is a very strong and interesting issue, which tends
to be mostly drawing, illustration and design oriented."

Fall
of Autumn says:
"Neat arty zine based out of California that
features interesting up-and-coming graphic design, sketch
art and photography. Art Bureau issue 10
features a wonderful little tutorial on the art of Gocco.
It also features some photos with poetry running alongside
by Guy R. Beining and Gigi Conot as well as some really
cool graphic design work by Catalina Estrada. My favorite
work by far, comes from Eduardo Bertone from Argentina.
Eduardo also works with graphic design, creating brilliantly
poignant drawings with some haunting political messages.
Art Bureau lists each artist's contact information, so if
you find something you like - get in touch with them!"

Logan
Bay wrote a quick synopsis about the zines in Quimby's miniMAGALOG
11 (spring 2006):
"A
new collection of up and coming artists are featured in every
issue, with a strong bent towards the lowbrow / street aesthetic."

And
another Quimby's review stated :.
"Nice collection of street level art with a
strong urban design drawing feel." |

Sean,
a Zine Rack columnist, wrote a positive review:
"A nice supplement to the
Art Bureau online art gallery. Inside pages are in black-and-white,
with plenty of well-reproduced artwork. This is a good use
of the zine medium to promote emerging artists. Recommended."

dbqp,
a visual poetry blog, wrote a thoughtful review:
"The eighth issue of Art Bureau provides us with ten
pages of Guy r. Beining's
visual poetry—seventeen poems in all, and it's well
worth the modest price. It is a small well-produced zine with
a good sense of design, starting with its graceful landscape
orientation." Read more of Geof
Huth's review. |
