Art
Bureau #17 is the Zine du Jour
at 365zines:
"Art
Bureau is a really awesome art zine...
I
suppose there are bigger (and glossier) arts magazine out
there where I could look at people's illustration and design
work, but I liked the sort of DIY feel to this. The format
makes it seem as though the people putting it together really
love the subject matter and the project. I look forward to
seeing more of their projcts in the world. " ~Matthew
from 365Zines.

Short
Pants Press Thinks We're Tops:
Art Bureau was at Stumptowns Comics Fest (2009) and Sarah
from Short
Pants Press stopped by to pick up some zines.
Here
is what she posted on her blog:
"One of the things I picked up at Stumptown was this
little gem -- Art Bureau 16. Art
Bureau puts out some really lovely stuff. Silkscreens and
gorgeous little offset books, all to promote artists and designers.
The book I picked up has some great work from artists like
Bubi Au Yeung and Catalina
Estrada." ~Sarah
from SSP.

Media
Junky Has A New Drug:
"Art Bureau 16 is an art zine with really nice production
vaules. The paper is solid cardstock with a nice blue ink.
The
images by Mulheres Barbadas and
Catalina Estrada provide much
interest, by presenting dense and surreal imagery. Most of
the art is really striking." Jason Rodgers (Media
Junky Issue 8).

Here's
his review published in issue #25:
"Bloody Hell! Where has this been hiding?
Art
Bureau is a beautiful little package. The printing is amazing,
the content is top notch. The two issues I received came with
various stickers & postcards. All for only $3 each. Recommended.

The
blog, Wear During Orange Alert, wrote a thoughtful review
about Martin Reiner's poetry chapbook:
"No Through Road is printed beautifully, with rounded
corners, collages by Ivan Wernisch,
perfect font and coloring, it is truly an artistic chap in
every sense of the word.
The
work of Martin
Reiner (as translated by Andrew
Oakland) is compact and powerful touching on nature,
man, and machine. He makes micro commentaries on life through
his perceived reality in the Czech Republic. Reading through
this collection you begin to realize that life, no matter
the physical location, is a universal phenomenon." Read

Giant
Robot 48 nailed it on the head with these kind words:
"This well-organized, offset zine is a gallery in print.
There isn't a lot of words in this publication, which provides
an unpretentious look at some artists who you may or may not
know. Projects like these are a labor of love, for sure, and
it's great to see that knowledge and visuals aren't always
passed along via blogs and can still exist in black and white.

Danielle
from UTNE Reader says:
"This neatly laid out zine showcases new artists from
across the world. The zine is small in size but awesome in
scope [giving] artists ample space to display an array of
pieces and to write about their work. UTNE
Reader No. 140 (March/April 2007) -From
the Stacks. |

Zine
World #24 says:
"Art Bureau 11 features
the work of a handful of emerging [British] artists and designers.
It is a very strong and interesting issue, which tends to
be mostly drawing, illustration and design oriented."

Fall
of Autumn says:
"Neat arty zine based out of California that
features interesting up-and-coming graphic design, sketch
art and photography. Art Bureau
issue 10 features a wonderful little tutorial
on the art of Gocco. It also features some photos with poetry
running alongside by Guy R. Beining
and Gigi Conot as well as some
really cool graphic design work by Catalina
Estrada. My favorite work by far, comes from Eduardo
Bertone from Argentina. Eduardo also works with graphic
design, creating brilliantly poignant drawings with some
haunting political messages. Art Bureau lists each artist's
contact information, so if you find something you like -
get in touch with them!" Review by Aaron
Cynic. |

Zine
World #23 says:

very professional and the artwork is well produced. If you

for you." Fran McMillian

11 (spring 2006):
"A new collection of up-and-coming artists are
featured in every issue, with a strong bent towards the lowbrow
/ street aesthetic.
...
"A
Nice collection of street level art with a strong urban design
drawing feel."

Sean,
a New Pages blogger, wrote a positive review:
"A nice supplement to the Art Bureau online art gallery.
Inside pages are in black-and-white, with plenty of well-reproduced
artwork. This is a good use of the zine medium to promote
emerging artists. Recommended."

dbqp,
a visual poetry blog, wrote a thoughtful review:
"The eighth issue of Art Bureau provides us with ten
pages of Guy r. Beining's visual
poetry—seventeen poems in all, and it's well worth the
modest price. It is a small well-produced zine with a good
sense of design, starting with its graceful landscape orientation."
