ART BUREAUab ORG [about/contact]

+ + + +

ART BUREAU (.org) is an online art gallery and publishing house for artists. We provide the opportunity for artists to display their artwork on the Web and to see their creations in print. This is done by creating online portfolio pages and publishing art zines and screen-prints.

In 2007, ART BUREAU and TENDER LOVING EMPIRE teamed up to offer hand-pulled screen-prints. Artists get paid for each print sold and purchases also help fund future ART BUREAU projects.

THE ZINE: as a supplement to the Art Bureau online art gallery, and blog, we publish a 36 page zine (ISSN 1548-7490) fostering a grassroots approach to promoting art, design and community. The zine's half-size, landscape-format, provides ample room for artwork and articles about artistic collaborations, networking and art organizations. The zines are offset printed and stapled in an edition of 450 newsstand copies and 50 deluxe copies.

DELUXE EDITIONS: every issue we invite artists to contribute extra goodies for the deluxe editions. Participating artists help create an affordable art-filled package that include prints, stickers, button badges and other promotional items with the zine.

This is a great opportunity to become a collector via your mailbox and to own artwork by some really talented people!

BUREAU'S SHOP: issues can be purchased by snail mail or PayPal. Please visit our Etsy shop for more information.

ADVERTISEMENTS: to advertise in Art Bureau, check out our low ad rates.

ART SUBMISSIONS: the first step is to contact us to be published on our Web site. For a reply, please include an informal greeting with your email submissions. Please include a brief paragraph introducing yourself. A simple "Hello, Here is my Web site" will be ignored. A polite "Hello Art Bureau, my name is..." works wonders.

Please view our artists for a better understanding of our community. Art Bureau receives more than 100 artists request every two months and can only select (and respond to) approximately ten percent for review.

CALL FOR WRITERS: We are on the lookout for writers covering announcements and news about their local art / crafts scene or reviewing art zines and books.

We publish articles by various authors/artists devoted to stories about how they are influencing their communities or who like to share their craft. The idea is to introduce a forum for artists to read or write about artistic opportunities with like-minded colleagues. Articles have been about A/V Space in Rochester, Gocco Printing, 1000 Journals Project & Film and Paper Boat Boutique & Gallery. If you have a Q&A idea, or a story to share, please contact us and we'll get it in print.

HOW IT WORKS: if we like what we see, we'll set up your online studio page and upload THREE images. Art Bureau studio pages include email address and links so that collectors may contact artists directly. Throughout the year it is encourged that artists contact us to update images and notify us about their upcoming gallery events.

DEADLINE: you may submit artwork, articles or ads at any time. Unless your artwork has been requested by us, submit only THREE images (attachments should be 72 DPI jpeg, gif or pdf files). If we are interested we will request more. If you currently have your artwork on the Web, you may email the URL address and we will visit your Web site and contact you. For more information, please contact the art director at info [at] artbureau.org.

SALES: please contact the artist for prices. Sales of artwork is between the buyer and the artist and does not require a commission to Art Bureau (.org). Taxes, shipping, and arrangements are the responsibility of each individual artist and does not reflect on Art Bureau (.org) in any way.

COPYRIGHT: Art Bureau (.org) will not (re)publish, reassign, etc., without knowledge and consent from the artist or writer. Upon publication (Web and print) all rights revert back to the artists and writers. It is the sole responsibility of the artist or author to monitor their work's usage outside the confines of our publication, and the Art Bureau Web site.

WHAT'S YOUR NUMBER?: Art Bureau is collecting numbers for an Art Bureau calendar.
The numbers will be collected until all thirty-one numbers are posted online. For more information please read this page.

FLOATING GALLERY EVENTS: if you are a small gallery, boutique, zine shop, or commercial property owner and would like to rent your space for an Art Bureau gallery event or zine release party, please make contact with your rates and guidlines (USA or CANADA).
